Virginia Wheeler

Virginia Corbett Wheeler, 88, of Wilson, died Monday, June 28, 2021.

The funeral will be for and at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Wheeler was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Stantonsburg, where she served on several committees through the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Wheeler; daughter, Patty Wheeler Strickland; parents, Walter Fred Corbett and Annie Strickland Corbett; several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her daughters, Hope Velasquez (John) of Denver, CO and Cindy Sherrod (Dale) and Mary Lou Skinner (Randy) of Wilson; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Joyner of Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church Stantonsburg, PO Box 57, Stantonsburg NC 27883, or Community Soup Kitchen of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 1527, Wilson NC 27894.

The family extends a special thank you to Anna Buck, FNP and her assistant Cheryl and to Leann and the staff of Basin Home, Health and Hospice.
