Jean Harrell Langley, 85, of Wilson, died Sunday, March 28, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Funeral, Friday at 11:00 AM, Harmony FWB Church, 409 Atlantic Christian College Drive, NE, Wilson. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street N, Wilson. Visitation will be Thursday, 6-8 PM at Wilson Memorial Service, and other times at 5475 Minnie Trail, Elm City.
Jean worked at Wrangler for 25 years, where she developed lifelong friendships with co-workers. She was part of the bowling league and took pride in her trophies.
Jean was a devoted member of Harmony FWB Church. She loved to read and also enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching classic movies. She spent many days cooking and baking for her family and friends. You could not visit her home without being offered food or enjoying her delicious baking. She was an avid Carolina basketball fan and never missed a game.
One of her greatest blessings were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They would always bring a smile to her face and she loved them, as she would say, “I love you to the moon and back!” Her kind gestures to so many through the years will be remembered and her spirit will live on in the lives of her children and their families.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Linda Henn (Rodney) of Wilson, Rose McDaris (Chris) of Wilson and Terry Yim (Bruce) of Elm City; sons, Mike Langley (Gail) of Wilson, David Langley (Kim) of Wilson and Glenn Langley (Mary) of Bailey; grandchildren, Billy Wright, Karen Meacomes, Lorrie Collier, Scott Aliff, Jason Aliff, Jeremy McDaris, Sara Lee, Stephen Baker, Adam Baker, Mark Baker, Kaniela Yim, Poncie Yim, Jessica Lewis, April Walker, Taylor Manning, Chase Langley, Cameron Langley, Dylan Williams, Tyler Williams, Olivia Langley; 21 great-grandchildren (three more on the way); sisters-in-law, Gloria Harrell (wife of her brother Hugh) and Becky Langley Phillips; aunts, Vivian Harrell and Nellie Darby; uncles, John Harrell and Linwood “Bones” Harrell; a special niece, Angie Wells; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Etta Harrell; brother, Hugh Harrell; cousin and best friend, Dean Whitley.
Special thanks to Hospice of Wilson and especially Barbara Bailey (niece) for her loving care and support, along with special caregivers Heather Evans (great-niece) and Summer Flowers, who were there by her side with much love and compassion.
