Wilson - Collin Augustus (“C.A.”) Nelson, Jr. went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.
He was born and raised in the Washington, NC area and lived the majority of his adult life in Wilson.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan 19, 2022, 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church, Wilson. The visitation will be at the church one hour before the funeral. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
C.A. was preceded in death by his father, C.A. Nelson, Sr., and mother, Olive Lewis Nelson, as well as five brothers and two sisters.
Left to honor his memory are his wife of 66 years, Juanita Mason Nelson; children, Debora Nelson Ray (with husband, Joe) and Collin Gregory Nelson (with wife, Stephanie); 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, Stephanie Ray Gillespie (with husband Brian and son, Patrick Ray Gillespie), Shelby Ray Patterson (with husband, Ted), Sydney Nelson Mitchell (with husband Jiles, son, Jax Patrick Mitchell, and daughter, Savvy Noelle Mitchell), and Stephen Nelson.
C.A. was an active member of First Baptist Church in Wilson, for 53 years, where he sang in the choir and was a Deacon. He was also a member of the men’s ensemble and proudly sang for his friends and family at any opportunity. One of his greatest honors in life was the opportunity to sing at his daughter’s, son’s, and three granddaughter’s weddings, as well as countless friends’ funerals. In his professional life, C.A. was a Real Estate Agent and a Sales Representative for J.C. Penny for many years. He had a passion for helping others, valued his family over all and truly had a servant's heart. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love they have received during this time of mourning.
