Zachary Hinton

Nashville - Zachary Hassell Hinton, 83, of the Momeyer community, died October 17, 2011 at Wilson Medical Center after an extended illness.

Funeral, Thursday, 2 PM, October 20, Momeyer Baptist Church, 4967 Momeyer Way, Nashville. Interment, Forest Hills Cemetery, Nashville. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Momeyer Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 7:00 pm on Wednesday October 19th.

He was born May 5, 1928 to the late Joseph Zacheus Hinton and Daisy Jackson Hinton of Momeyer, NC. Zack was raised in Momeyer and graduated from Spring Hope High School in 1945. He served his country during the Korean War in Alaska. Zack loved being part of Momeyer Baptist Church and the Momeyer Ruritan Club. Zack and his brother Frederick formed Hinton Brothers Builders and Hinton Supply Company in 1955. The two brothers built Momeyer Baptist Church, the Momeyer Baptist Church Parsonage, the Momeyer Ruritan Club, and many homes in the Momeyer and Rocky Mount communities and beyond. One of the highlights of Zack's career was when Hinton Brothers Builders was featured in two articles in Southern Living magazine.

In addition to his parents, Zack was preceded in death by his brother Frederick and sister, Eleanor.

Zack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Yvonne Barbee Hinton; his daughters Marla Hinton Parker (Wayland) of Wilson and Kimberly Hinton Loftin (Patrick) of Knightdale; two wonderful grandchildren: Olivia Alexis Parker and Zachary Grant Loftin; sisters, Frances Hinton and Gloria Hinton Creekmore (Carl) of Momeyer and caregiver, Ms. Annie Yarborough.

Memorials are suggested to Momeyer Baptist Church, 4967 Momeyer Way, Nashville, NC 27856, earmarked for church parsonage landscape improvements.
