William Strickland

WILSON - William "Bill" Strickland, entered eternal rest with his loving, faithful wife and caretaker by his side on April, 26, 2011. Bill worked at Teledyne Thermatics in Elm City for 36 years as Quality Director and VP of Technology. He was lifetime member of Elm City Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher; RA leader; Brotherhood Director and on many committees. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday April 29, 7:00 PM at Elm City Missionary Baptist Church, 206 W Wilson St, with visitation immediately following. He is survived by wife, Mozelle Penny Strickland; mother, Lucille Garner Alford of Wilson; daughter, Sandy Wagner of Colorado; sons, William Strickland (Donald) of Selma, Thomas Strickland (Tara) of Elm City, Nick Rogers (Becki) and Chris Rogers (Chrystel) of Orangeburg, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly; brothers, Eldon Strickland (Georgia) of Four Oaks and Dean Strickland (Betty) of Elm City. He was preceded in death by his father William Harvey Strickland and step-father Wilburn Alford. As evidenced by his loving and giving spirit, Bill has donated his body for research to Duke Medical Center, in order to help others, even in his death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Elm City Missionary Baptist Church, Building Fund, PO Box 667, Elm City NC 27822.
