Wayne Potente

Wayne Joel Potente, 75, of Wilson, North Carolina, passed away on January 18, 2024. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, 2:00 PM, at Eastgate Church, 2301 Montgomery Drive W, Wilson, with Pastor Gary Combs officiating.  The visitation with be from 1:30-2:00 PM. 

Wayne was an excellent salesman who enjoyed talking to people. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, Wayne attended Union Hill High School and later Montclair State University.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Lynne, and his two sons, Douglas and Michael, both of Wilson. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Shannon (née Person), three grandchildren, twins Gabriel and Jace of North Carolina, and Kevin of New Jersey, as well as his nephew Anthony Potente. 

Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A. Potente and Eleanor (née Smith), and his brother, Joseph.

In his free time, Wayne enjoyed many forms of sports. He was the Captain of his high school bowling team and became a semi-pro bowler. For the last ten years, he developed a business selling handmade magnetic jewelry with his wife and son, Douglas.
