WILSON - Virginia Kalinowski Bachara, 90, died Sunday, February 16, 2014.
Virginia was born in Detroit, Michigan, one of seven children of a polish immigrant family. She married Henry Bachara during WWII while Henry was in the US Coast Guard and they lived in Charleston, SC. After the war they moved to East Detroit (a Detroit suburb) and raised two boys. Although she never worked, she was a full time homemaker, volunteer and very active in her Catholic Church. Virginia and Henry were married for 59 years until his death in 2002. She moved to Wilson to be with her son and his family in 2006 and lived the rest of her life independently. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and active in the informal group of neighbors in her cul-de-sac.
She is survived by her son, Gary Bachara and wife, Pamela, of Wilson, NC; granddaughter, Erica Swartzfager (Scott) and great-granddaughter Savannah of Wilson; son, Jerry Bachara and wife, Cathy, of Virginia; grandson, Jason Bachara of Virginia; She has a total of five grandchildren including; Mark and Laura Bachara of Southport, NC and five great-grandchildren including; Elizabeth and Kaitlyn Swartzfager of Wilson.
