Susan Black

WILSON - Roma Susan Black, peacefully passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm, Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Michael Black on London Church Road, Elm City, after the service until 6:00 PM. 

Susan was born November 18, 1965 to Michael and Susan Black of Wilson.  She graduated from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton) with a BS in Sociology.  

Susan had a heart of gold and loved fully. She will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Hackney Black, and grandparents, Willis Douglas Hackney III and Louise Wiggins Hackney.

Surviving is her daughter, Holden Hackney Strauch of Wilson; father, Michael Black of Elm City; brother, Michael Black, Jr. and wife, Dottie, of Pinehurst; sister, Elizabeth Black Horne and husband, Jim, of Elm City; nieces and nephews, Jay Horne and wife, Connor, Liza Horne and fiancé, Johnnie Cobb, Anna Grace Black and Trey Black.
