Sarah Clark

June 30, 1925 — January 3, 2016

WILSON - Sarah Moss Clark, 90, passed peacefully on January 3, 2016.

Funeral, Thursday, January 7, 11 AM, First United Methodist Church, followed by visitation in Asbury Hall. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery.

Sarah was born in Hickory to Constance and Robert V. Moss. She attended Greensboro Women's College and was president of her class her senior year. While attending college, she would begin a courtship with "Bill" that would continue throughout their 63 years of marriage. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. "Grandmommie" Clark enjoyed nothing more than having family gatherings, always ending with her delicious pound cake. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and no visit was complete without a trip to find her hidden chocolate stash. Sarah was an avid competitor whether it was her bridge game, a tennis match, or watching N. C. State play and passed that competitive nature on to her three sons. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist church, where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. She also continued her service to others by volunteering at Meals on Wheels. Her family greatly admired her strength and grace throughout her life.

Mrs. Clark is survived by her sons, Robert Clark and wife, Barbara, of Elm City and David Clark and wife, Sandy, of Wilson; grandchildren, Claire and Caroline Clark, Michael Clark and wife, Lauren, Anna Clark, Ashley Welker and husband, Brian, and Marcia Adunka and husband, Oliver; great-grandchildren, Will Clark, Colby and Daniel Welker and Max and Maren Adunka; brother, Charles Moss of Hickory.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. William Boyd "Bill" Clark, Jr., and son, William Boyd "Billy" Clark, III, sister, Margaret Hodnett, and brother, Robert V. Moss, Jr.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Parkwood Village-Memory Care Unit, who loved and cared for her during her stay. Thank you also to Community Hospice for their caring support.
