Pikeville - Sandra Outland Mozingo, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 28, 2024. Waiting anxiously for her at Heaven’s gates were her son, Zach Gurley, and her loving parents, Ellis and Frances Outland.
The visitation will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Dr N, Wilson, Thursday, October 3, 5:00-6:00 PM, followed by a service to celebrate her life at 6:00 PM. Interment will be Friday, 10:00 AM, at Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont. The family will receive friends and family all other times at the home of Debbie Outland.
Her unwavering love for her family and others defined her life. She was a prayer warrior whose faith never faltered, always lifting her loved ones up in prayer. Sandra's unfaltering faith in her Lord and Savior guided her throughout her life. Her belief in Christ was a source of strength and inspiration to those who knew her. She lived her life with grace, kindness, and an open heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She deeply loved her husband Ricky Mozingo, whom she married on June 7, 2010. Sandra cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren-Tyson Ayers, Shane Ayers,, Kelsee Ayers, Dylan Perkins, Brooklyn Perkins, and Abbey Perkins-who brought her immense joy and pride. She cherished her family deeply, loved her loyal dog, Tate, and adored her precious granddogs.
A lifelong educator, Sandra taught elementary school for 32 years, retiring after a career of nurturing young minds. She was known for her strong, compassionate spirit and was a tireless advocate for the underdog. Her heart was as big as her laugh, and her home was always open to those in need of a kind word or warm meal.
She had a way of brightening every room she entered, often teasing that she should have been a blonde with her cheerful personality and lighthearted spirit. Her love of people was evident—she never met a stranger and was always ready for a conversation, filled with joy and humor.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Ricky Mozingo; her daughters, Angela Gurley Ayers (Billy Nance) and Heather Perkins; her wonderful son-in-law, Erving Perkins; her sisters, Debbie Outland and Ann Current (husband Mike); three sweet nieces (Amy, Sara, Rebecca); step children, Frank Mozingo (wife Dawn) and Stacy Holloman, six grandchildren, and eight step-grandchildren. .
Though she has left this earth, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith lives on in all of us. Rest in peace, Sandra, Mama. You will be missed, but your memory and your teachings will remain in our hearts forever. Until we see each other again, give Zach all those hugs your arms have been aching to give him since he left us. Give him a big one for each of us too.
