Sandra Alexander

Sandra Lee Smith Alexander, 76, of Wilson, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 after several years of declining health.

The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Carol Dean and Rev. Rich Hartman on Friday, September 15, 11:00 AM, at Wilson Memorial Service.  The visitation will be one hour before the funeral.

Sandra was born in Wilson and grew up in the Fremont community.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Lee and Frances Glover Smith and a brother, James Thomas Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Benny Alexander; sons, Ben and wife, Alison, and Ryan and wife, Jo-Anna; grandchildren, Payton Marie Alexander and Tyler Anthony Alexander; sisters-in-law, Judy Carolyn Lamm Smith and Bonnie Jordan and husband, Terry and their daughter Stephanie Seagraves and husband, Jason.

Sandra attended Fremont Elementary and High School.  She took great pride in her school friends as well as with personal friends.  She was Homecoming Queen her senior year.  Being an outstanding basketball player, she was selected to the all conference team her junior and senior years.  Her senior year she was selected to the N.C.H.S. IA All State Team.  Sandra was very popular with her classmates and friends.

She spent most of her working career at Murphy Manufacturing Company in refrigerated truck sales and retired with 30 years of service.

Sandra was a member of Buckhorn Methodist Church.

Sandra took pride in her family.  She loved her boys.  An outstanding cook, she looked forward to special holidays, having meals with her family and friends.  She was happiest at the beach, tanning, shopping, and partying with friends.  She always enjoyed wearing new outfits and took great pride in her appearance.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Buckhorn Methodist Church, 8102 NC Hwy 42 W, Kenly, NC 27542.
