Rufus Beard

FAYETTEVILLE - Rufus K. Beard, 80, died Monday, April 27, 2015.
He was born March, 7, 1935 in Nash County to Robert E. and Ernestine Thompson Beard. He graduated from Bailey High School in 1953 and served two years in the Army returning to attend college at Atlantic Christian College and N.C. State.
Funeral, Bailey United Methodist Church, Thursday, 2:00 PM. Visitation will be 12 noon - 1:45. Interment, Bailey Cemetery.
Rufus worked in computer technology as a civilian employee for over thirty years, working at Fort Bragg, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and Fort Carson, Colorado. After retiring in 1995 he lived in Fayetteville until his death.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert Mitchell Beard of Jacksonville and Dan Edward Beard of Bailey; sisters, Betty Beard Frazier of Raleigh and Rebekah Beard Smith of Wilmington and several nieces and nephews.
