Pikeville - Ruby Hooks Matthews Thornton, 81, died Sunday, August 22, 2010. Funeral, Wednesday, 2:00 PM, Stoney Creek FWB Church. Interment, Wayne Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, George C. Thornton; daughter Mawan Bunn (Joel) of Goldsboro; sons, LaVon Matthews (Pam) of Goldsboro, Stan Matthews (Barbara) of Pikeville and Tony Matthews of Greenville, SC; step-daughters, Kathy Trogdon of Pikeville and Ann Cabaniss of IL; step-sons, Steve Thornton of Colorado and Danny Frank of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Blake, Casey, Abby and Ava Bunn, Timmy, Brad, Chad, Todd, Derek, Scottie and Jason Matthews; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren, 18 step-great grandchildren; brothers, Danny Hooks of Mount Olive, Bryan Hooks of Lucama and Wiley Hooks of Columbia, SC and very special friend since childhood, Margaret Matthews. The family will be at the church, Tuesday, 7 - 8:30 PM.
