Ruby Parker

WILSON - Ruby Dean Phillips Whitley Parker, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 1, 2013.

Funeral, Sunday, 5:00 PM, November 3, 2013, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Wilson, followed by visitation. Interment, Monday, 11:00 AM, Maplewood Cemetery.

Ruby was a charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Wilson. She and her first husband, Joseph Edward Whitley, were active in the church, holding many positions of leadership. She was an interpreter for the deaf at Tabernacle Baptist Church and Bill Rice Ranch. Following the death of her first husband, she married Dr. Monroe Parker, and spent many years traveling the world proclaiming Christ while representing the Baptist World Mission. She was a frequent conference speaker at many churches, sharing her story of God's faithfulness in her life. She was a past member of the Wilson Garden Club, serving as president. She was a lifelong supporter of missionaries world-wide, Bob Jones University, and Wilson Christian Academy.

She was preceded in death by her parents W.H. and Ethel Phillips, two brothers, three sisters; husbands, Joseph Edward (Ed) Whitley and John Monroe Parker; son, Joseph Edward (Joe) Whitley, Jr.; grandson, Brent Campbell McAlister.

She is survived by daughters Carol Whitley Cox (Larry), Dianne Whitley Barnes, Beth Whitley Glover (David) and former daughter-in-law, Beverly Whitley Logan; grandchildren Renee Cox Rencher, Stephanie Joy Cox, Larry V. Cox, Jr., Trey Barnes, Dave Glover, Jr. (Melissa), Will Glover (Emily), Brian Glover (Spencer), Taylor Leigh Whitley and Joseph Edward (Jed) Whitley, III (Nikki); step-children John Parker (Rebecca) and Penny Parker; great-grandchildren, Emma, Madison, Noah, Clara, Joe, Annabelle, Grace; sister, Grace Gardner of Virginia; several grand dogs and cats.
