Ron Poythress

WILSON - Jerry Ronald “Ron” Poythress, 77, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018.

Funeral, Saturday, 10:00 AM, Wilson Memorial Service.  Interment, Maplewood Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home, Friday, 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

Ron was self-employed for 39 years at RENU FIBERGLASS.  He graduated in the first Ralph L. Fike High School Class in 1959 and went on to serve in the U.S. Marines for six years.  An active Mason and Shriner for 37 years, he was involved with the Sudan Shrine Monster Truck Unit.

Surviving is his wife, Jo Ann Dickens Poythress; son, Todd Poythress (Kirsten) of Wilson; grandchildren, Ryan and Mackenzie Poythress; brothers, Royce Poythress (Caroline) of Wilson and Bridge Poythress of Stem.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Luther M. and Sally Janice Bridgeman Poythress; his first wife and mother of Todd, Mary Ann Dudley Poythress; a brother, Frederick and a granddaughter, Emma Poythress.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 403 E. Front St, New Bern, NC 28560-4916 or to a charity of one’s choice.
