Roger Eugene Watkins, 81, of Kenly, died Saturday, February 8, 2025.
Funeral, Tuesday, 6:00 PM, at New Jerusalem FWB Church, 1461 Jerusalem Church Rd, Kenly, followed by visitation. Burial, Wednesday, 3:00 PM, at the Kenly Cemetery.
Roger was a graduate of Kenly High School and Atlantic Christian College. He also proudly served in the National Guard. Roger was a volunteer for the Kenly Rescue Squad and a member of the Kenly Lions Club. He was a business owner opening a Sears store in Kenly and later a convenience store. After working 20 years for Davis Drug as a Pharmacy Technician, he retired. Roger loved people and working with the public. He never met a stranger. An avid fan of Carolina Tar Heels basketball, Roger watched them play most every game. But more than anything, he loved his family and was so very proud of them.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Holland Watkins; daughters, Cynthia Watkins of Selma and Elizabeth Parrish (John) of Kenly; grandchildren, Taylor Parrish, Brice Godwin, Brooke Godwin, and Daniel Fry; sister, Dorothy Creech of Kenly.
Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ora Elizabeth Minshew Watkins; sisters, Estelle White and Kay Whitley; brothers, Hubert and Jimmy Watkins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Jerusalem FWB Church, 1461 Jerusalem Church Rd, Kenly, NC 27542.
