Roger Batchelor

Roger Dale Batchelor, 64, of Lucama, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

The visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 11:00-1:00, at Wilson Memorial Service.

Roger was a loving husband, Dad, PaPa, Great- PaPa, brother and uncle, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He inherited his daddy's kind heart and good nature, and knew how to tell a great joke. He enjoyed cooking and feeding anyone who would eat. You never left his home without a belly full of food and laughs. He was a very talented metal fabricator who could bend metal like nobody else, and had built many grills for his friends. Roger enjoyed life to the fullest and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Joy Gardner Batchelor; son, Dale Batchelor II (Jenn Christianson); grandchildren, Karissa Smelcer (Tyler), Alexis Hayes (Philip Agcaoili), Dylan Hayes (Samarria), Kayenne Blalock, Carter Bandy and Marlie Christianson; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Crumpler (Edwin) of Wilson, Lessie Frey of Elm City, and Janice Tedder of Lucama; brothers, Leon Batchelor (Faye) and Bobby Batchelor of Wilson, and Johnny Batchelor (Lisa) of Elm City.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, John Astor and Nettie Mae Joyner Batchelor; brother, Ronald Lee Batchelor.
