Robert Morris Ruffin, Jr., 76, of Elm City, died Friday, January 8, 2021.
Funeral, Sunday, 3:00 PM, Stantonsburg Cemetery. Those in attendance should practice social distancing and wear a mask. The family will receive friends at 6909 Glover Rd., Elm City.
He was raised and worked on a farm in Wilson County until he was 18. He worked multiple jobs throughout his lifetime. His last job before he retired was at Bridgersville Store on Highway 42. He loved his co-workers and also the customers. Robert was an avid nature lover. He participated in horse shows and trail riding when he was younger. He also loved to hunt. His favorite spot was his front porch where he could breathe the fresh country air and watch the wildlife.
Robert is survived by daughters, Brenda Newcombe (John) of Elm City and Robin Hobgood (Jason) of Pinetops; grandchildren, Hunter Newcombe, Travis Newcombe, T.C. Cooper, Elanie Webb, Ryan Scott, Taylor Hobgood and Meredith Page; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Colton, Abby and Nathan; sisters, Shirley Ricks of Scotland Neck, Teresa Ruffin of Elm City and Maureen Craig of Eden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irene Speight Ruffin, and his brothers, Stanley Ruffin and Terry Ruffin.
