Priscilla Peed

Priscilla Boyette Peed, 87, of Kenly, in the Buckhorn Community in Wilson County, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Spring Arbor in Rocky Mount. 

The family will receive family and friends at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Dr. N, Wilson on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The celebration of life service will be at Buckhorn Methodist Church, 8102 NC Highway 42 W, Kenly, NC on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Buckhorn Cemetery.  Pastor Rich Hartman and Pastor Carol Dean will be officiating at the service.

She was born in the Glendale community of Johnston County on December 4, 1936 and was the daughter of the late David Larkin Boyette and Lillian Woodard Boyette. She married Renford Wendell Peed, Jr. on January 25, 1959.

Priscilla received a business education degree from Atlantic Christian College and taught high school business in Pikeville and Glendale before deciding to stay home to raise her children. After moving to Wilson County, Renford and Priscilla started Peed Nursery where she loved to grow flowers and help customers beautify their homes and businesses. She was an active member at Buckhorn Methodist Church and held positions in the women’s circle and participated in many service areas.  Priscilla loved her family and enjoyed cooking, traveling and attending NC State football and basketball games.

She is survived by her children, Renford Wendell Peed III (Donna) of Wilson; Lydia Peed Wilson of Kenly (Mike) of Sims; Calvin Larkin Peed of Kenly; grandchildren, Stephanie Watkins (Zack) of Lewisville, Rachel Godwin (Everett) of Lynchburg, VA, and Lucas Peed (Sarah) of Bedford, VA; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Kylan, Briella, Elias and Oliver.

She was preceded in death by husband Renford Wendell Peed, Jr.; brother, Ray Boyette; sisters, Doris Creech, Edith Boyette, Nancy Foster, Theramae Jackson and Peggy Brady.
