Oswald Madray

Oswald Gene Madray, 78, of Carrollton VA, died peacefully in his sleep Friday, July 12, 2024.

DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE SERVICE FOR MR. MADRAY HAS BEEN RESCHUDULED TO Friday, August 9, 11:00 am, at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Dr N, Wilson, NC 27896.

Oswald was preceded in death by his parents, John Q. Madray and Glennie Pope Madray Roland.

He retired after 45+ years as a long distance truck driver. During that time he was able to travel to many places and meet the love of his life Cynthia Walker. After retiring he found joy spending time tending to his garden. He enjoyed date night on Fridays with Cynthia and their friends. In his younger years, on the weekends, he could be found on the race track racing his #32 purple late model stock car. His love of racing was passed down to his son Ronnie. He served as a volunteer fireman with Derita Volunteer Fire Department during the 70’s and 80’s. He was a big supporter from a distance in his granddaughter Linzie’s sporting events. Oswald loved and was loved deeply by his family and friends. 

Oswald is survived by Cynthia Walker of Carrollton VA; daughter, Michele Rosenberger and husband, Chance, and their daughter, Linzie, of Charlotte NC; son, Ronnie Johnson and wife, Susie, of Fort Lupton CO; granddaughter, Courtney Faile and husband, Aaron, and their sons, Liam and Asher, of Lincolnton NC. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and to Sweetwater Ministries Inc., PO Box 1011 Pikeville, NC 27863.
