BLACK CREEK - Norma Lee Tyndall Yelverton, 94, of Fremont, died Saturday, April 4, 2015.
Funeral, Wednesday, 3:00 PM, Black Creek United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Mary K. Best. Interment, Davis Family Cemetery near the home.
Mrs. Yelverton was the widow of Hubert Davis Yelverton who died in 2000. They were married on June 6, 1942. Born March 24, 1921, in Jones County, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Carrie Reynolds Tyndall. She was educated at East Carolina Teachers College - now ECU - and went on to teach home economics for 36 years making a lasting impact on her many students. She enjoyed a love for traveling with her family and was an active member of the Black Creek United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Cheryl Y. Thornton and husband, Richard, of Fremont; son, Maurice Yelverton and wife, Jan Ellington, of Greenville; grandchildren, Jason Thornton and wife, Tammy and their children, Avery and Gracie, Carrie T. Bass and husband, Beaty, and their children, Davis, Hallie and Aliza, Nicky Yelverton and wife, Allyson and son, Nicholus; Wyatt Yelverton and wife, Jessica, Michelle Yelverton, Bridget Phillips and children Devin and Chrislyn. An infant son, Hubert Tyndall Yelverton, preceded his parents in death.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Wilson, Tuesday, 6:30 - 8:00 PM, and other times at the family home.
