WILSON - Monroe D. Mustian, 68, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Funeral, Saturday, 3:30 PM, First Baptist Church, 311 Nash St W, Wilson. He was born on July 4, 1942, in Warrenton to the late James Taylor and Katherine Dickerson Mustian, also preceding him was his first wife, Millie Peeler Mustian. Monroe Dunlap Mustian, known by his granddaughters as "Roe" graduated from East Carolina University with a B.A. degree in Business Management and moved to Wilson where he worked for Kraft-General Foods for 30 years retiring in 1996 as a District Sales Manager. Monroe embraced retirement by filling his time with family, golfing with his buddies, participating in charitable activities including Habitat for Humanity, Hope Station, Optimist Club and direct involvement at First Baptist Church. At Hope Station, he was Interim Executive Director and Treasurer while serving on the board. He was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and served on various committees. In a humble manner, he gave his loving generosity in many ways and to many people. In recent years, Monroe spent progressively more time at Salter Path with his wife of eleven years, Brenda, while enjoying friends and time on the beach. Surviving is his loving wife, Brenda Williamson Goff Mustian; daughter, Amy Mustian Duffus and husband, Chris, of Raleigh; son, Roger Taylor Mustian and wife, Roxann, of Greensboro; stepson, Brent Goff of Berlin, Germany; granddaughters, Rachel Elizabeth Duffus, Sarah Beth Duffus and Taylor Marie Mustian; step-grandchildren, Brian Alan Hooks and Robert Joseph Hooks, sister, Barbara Mustian Kempson and husband, Klink; brothers, James Taylor Mustian, Jr. and wife, Sharon; a special niece, Brianna Howell. Monroe will be remembered for his love, support and devotion to his family, his generous and unselfish spirit and kindness to others. He leaves many cherished memories and will be missed by all of those he touched in his life. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of the IC units at Wilson Medical Center and UNC Memorial Hospital. Special heartfelt thanks to the Adults III Class of First Baptist for the many visits, prayers and support through his hospitalization and to all of his other "100" friends. The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Dr, N, Wilson, Friday, 6:30 - 8 PM.
