Mary Baker

WILSON - Mary Elizabeth 'Baby' Bass Baker, 95, of the New Hope community, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016.

Funeral, Saturday, 11:00 AM, Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Inurnment will be for and at the convenience of the family.

Surviving is her daughter, Betsy B. Winborne of the home; granddaughter, Cathy Winborne of Wilson and her daughter, Baker Sharpe, and son, Beau Sharpe, both of Wilson; grandson, Jamie Winborne (Genie) of Rocky Mount and their daughter, Deas Winborne of Wilmington; grandson, Joey Winborne (Carmella) and their son, Zane Winborne, of Collinsville, VA; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Baker; daughter, Beverly Jo Baker; parents, William Henry and Ada Catherine Dail Bass; sisters, Mae Lillie Edwards, Pauline Pearson, Lucinda Brewer, Ada Bell Shirley, Novella 'Beck' Taylor and Blanch Smiley Williford.

Mary Elizabeth lived most of her life in the New Hope community and was a lifelong member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was baptized in Silver Lake as a young teen.

The family would like to thank Amy, Paulette and the staff of 3 HC for their loving and professional care during her time with them and to Dr. Richard Burdick and staff for their care for many years.
