WILSON- Lyman W. Laughinghouse, 90, of Wilson, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
Funeral, Thursday, 2:00 PM, Wilson Memorial Service immediately followed by Masonic Rites.
Lyman graduated from Charles L. Coon High School where he played both Junior and Varsity football and baseball. He played baseball for the Wilson Tobs (Coastal Plain League) for a short time before entering the Navy where he served nearly three years during World War II in Italy and North Africa. He was employed as an architectural designer and draftsman for over 50 years for Charles C. Benton & Sons in Wilson and Dove, Knight, Whitehurst & Associates of Rocky Mount.
Lyman was a Past Master of Mount Lebanon Masonic Lodge 117, York & Scottish Rite Bodies and Allied Masonic Bodies and Robert B. Anderson American Legion Post 13 in addition to being an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Nannie Godley Laughinghouse ; sisters, Esther L. Gill, Elsie L. Hunt and Dolly L. Bridgers; brothers, Alvis Jack Laughinghouse, Robert King Laughinghouse, Joe F. Laughinghouse and William "Bill" Laughinghouse.
Lyman is survived by his wife of 68 years, Christine Barnes Laughinghouse; sisters, Mary Hooks of Wilson, Molly Archibeque of Glen Allen, VA; several nieces and nephews.
