Lottie Barbour

Lottie Smith Barbour, 84, of Wilson, died Tuesday, November 26, 2024. 

Funeral, Saturday, 11:00 AM, at Wooten’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 9825 Sauls Rd, Raleigh. The visitation will be after the funeral. Interment will be in the church cemetery. 

She is survived by her daughters Beverly Cannon (Jerry) of Pikeville, Janet Creech (Rev. Steve) of Plymouth, and Susan Brinson (Kelvin) of Wilson; grandchildren, Lindsay Long (Wesley), Jessica Holliday (Matt), Jennifer Hill (Preston), Matthew Brinson (Summer), and Andrew Brinson; great-grandchildren, Jalynn Holliday, Jayna Holliday, Joah Holliday and Lily Hill; sisters-in-law, Helen Barbour of Garner and Betty Sawyer of Durham; special friend, Billy Brice of Stantonsburg; Suzanne Lancaster and her daughter, Addie, who was like a daughter to Lottie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Larry Barbour and grandson, Brian Cannon. 

Lottie was born in Wake County on September 8, 1940. She was married to the love of her life, Larry, on April 3, 1960 until his death on October 3, 2019. She was a devoted pastor’s wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

Larry and Lottie were thrilled by the birth of their first daughter, Beverly, in 1961, followed by their second daughter, Janet, in 1962, with the baby girl, Susan, in 1966. Larry was called into the ministry in 1970 and served in various communities in eastern North Carolina for 49 years. Her doors were opened to many children throughout the years that she had the opportunity to care for. She also worked at Grace Baptist until the grandchildren were born. She had a special place in her heart for her five grandchildren and unsurpassable love for “the great ones.”
