FREMONT - L. J. Benton, Jr., 77, of Centreville, VA, formerly of Fremont, died January 25, 2012.
Funeral, Saturday, February 4, 2 PM, Elmwood Cemetery (Old Section), Fremont, with Masonic Rites.
L.J. graduated from Fremont High School in 1952 and Atlantic Christian College (Barton) in 1956. He taught school in Smithfield before relocating to northern Virginia where he had a long career working in science education for Fairfax County Public Schools and The Smithsonian.
Surviving is his daughter, Patricia Benton Smith (William) of Centreville and grandson, Jordan Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Rose Daughtry Benton, a native of Wayne County; his parents, Leslie J. and Mary Butts Benton of Fremont.
