Larry Thompson

Larry Kelley Thompson, 66, of Bailey, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at Duke-Raleigh Hospital.

Funeral, Wilson Memorial Service, Wilson, Monday, 6:00 PM, followed by a time of visiting and sharing. 

Larry exemplified hard work, and was a dedicated truck driver for Henry and Epes Transportation for over 35 years. 

He had a vibrant personality, and was known for his great sense of humor and friendly demeanor. He never met a stranger and effortlessly connected with those around him. He will be fondly remembered for his role as the best father anyone could ever ask for, and he adored his first grandson, Kyler. Additionally, he shared a special bond with Bailey, his beloved dog. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan that loved NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. His place at White Lake is where he spent most of his time and felt most at peace.

Surviving is his wife, Kim Barnes Thompson; sons, Kelley Thompson (friend, Stephanie Talton) of Wilson and Damien Thompson of Wilmington; grandson, Kyler Thompson.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Moore and Ruth Kelley Thompson of Wilson County.
