WILSON - Larry Wayne Lassiter, 68, loving husband, father, PaPa, son, brother, uncle and friend, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015, surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 followed by a time of visiting and sharing.
Larry was born on August 7, 1946, in Henderson and was the son of Dorothy Ayscue Lassiter of Henderson and the late Joseph Franklin Lassiter.
He was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served the Lord in many capacities over a 40 year period. Larry was a loyal employee for 19 years at Lee Motor Company and previously for 25 years at Sears Roebuck & Company. He willingly devoted much of his time to support his children in sporting, musical and scouting activities. He lovingly served others, was quick to share a smile and was a friend to all.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Krista Perry Lassiter; son, Jay Lassiter and wife, Ginger, of Raleigh; daughters, Mandy Lassiter Sullivan and husband, Wayne, and Paige Lassiter Hill and husband, Wes, all of Wilson; grandchildren, Trey and Vance Lassiter, Mallory and Jack Sullivan and Zachary and Kensley Hill; brother, Robert Lassiter, and wife, Marilyn and sister, Mary Jo Wilson and husband, Fred, all of Henderson; mother-in-law, Geraldine Jackson Perry and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Abigail Hope Sullivan; his father, Joseph Franklin Lassiter and his father-in-law, Albert Vernon Perry.
Larry's grandchildren were the light of his life and he enjoyed watching each of them participate in sports, music, band and dance.
The family would like to extend deepest heartfelt thanks to Dr. Thomas Hooper, Dr. Margaret Metts and Dr. Scott Smith and their staff for their loving, compassionate care of Larry.
