Kitty Barnes

Kitty Allen Moore Barnes, 92, of Wilson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 13, 2023, at Parkwood Village.  

In accordance with Kitty’s wishes, there will be a graveside service for the family.   The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church, 311 Nash St N, Wilson, on Saturday December 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM. 

Kitty was born on January 19, 1931, in Winslow, Indiana and lived in Wilson for over 70 years. 

She is survived by her children Dr. Wistar “Tim” Moore III (Laura) of Pooler, GA , Phillip Moore (Cindy) of Newport News, VA and Laura Cernikova (Frank) of Raleigh; grandson, Colson “Alex” Moore of Overland Park, KS; brother, Kirby Allen of Rockwell; step-children, Lou Ann Griffith of Wilson, Lee Murphy (John) of Burtonsville, MD and Ned Barnes (Amy) of Wilmington.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Wistar “Butch” Moore, Jr.; second husband, Wiley Barnes; brother, Pearl Allen, Jr.; sisters, Cynthia Almond, Daisy Ward, Gladys Bunn, and Nancy Bridges; daughter-in-law, Carol Moore; step-daughter, Carol Brewer, and  parents, Pearl and Minnie Allen.

Kitty worked for the Wilson County Schools for several years and will be cherished as a wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, stepmother, and friend.  Her memory will be a blessing as she inspired those who knew her to bring good deeds into the world. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you donate to her beloved First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1467, Wilson, NC 27894-1467.
