Kit Douglas Hare, 82, of Smithfield, died peacefully Wednesday, September 25, 2024, surrounded by family.
A graveside service for the family was held Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.
Kit was married to his wife, Linda, for 60 years. He was known for his sense of humor and lighthearted spirit. He worked in the temperature controls industry and spent his time outside of work with his family. Kit enjoyed working on his two classic cars (Ford Galaxys), traveling to car shows, and visiting his favorite restaurants.
He is survived by his wife Linda Sharpe Hare and his three sons and their families. Doug and Lori of Raleigh and children Laurina (husband Doug), Charlie, and Elizabeth. Rodney and Karen of Raleigh and children Austin, Jacob, and Zachary. Greg and Brenda of Smithfield and children Ivey (husband Garrett), and Haley and his sister, Kay Hare Boykin (husband J.W.) of Jacksonville, FL.
Kit was preceded in death by his parents Edward Turner and Lee Boykin Hare of Kenly.
