Katie Covington

Katie Teague Covington, 87, of Wilson, died Monday March 10, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro.

Funeral, Thursday, March 20, 2025, 2:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church, 100 Green St NE, Wilson, followed by visitation. The service will be conducted by Rev. Mike Frese.

Katie was born in Martinsville, Virginia on August 20, 1937 to the late Bertha and Henry Teague and grew up there. She graduated from Salem College. Upon her marriage to John, she moved to Wilson and raised her family there. She was very active in the life of First United Methodist Church and served many roles including working in the library and working with the flowers. Her favorite services were White Gift and Scout Sunday. She was proud of her sons and grandsons for all attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. She loved gardening and working in her yard and enjoyed playing bridge.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Covington, Jr.; sons, John Anderson Covington III (Lynda) of Raleigh, Nelson Teague Covington (Janie) of Wilson, and Thomas Gwynn Covington (Susan) of Wilmington; grandchildren, Kathryn, Nelson, Jack, Anna-Poe, Margaret and T Covington; sister, Nancy Teague Scott of Bedford, VA; and her beloved dog, Maggie.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1423, Wilson, NC 27894.
