WILSON - Julia Lancaster "Judy" Moore, 82, passed from this earth to heaven on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Funeral, Thursday, 6:00 PM, Forest Hills Baptist Church, followed by visitation. Interment will be for and at the convenience of the family. Rev. Justin Deeter will officiate.
Julia was born on February 2, 1931, the daughter of the late Lee Roy Lancaster and Dovie Cobb Lancaster. Julia grew up in Sharpsburg where she attended Elm City High School. She enjoyed playing the piano at Sharpsburg Baptist Church. She would later play the piano at her churches
in Raleigh and Charlotte. She became a Christian in her teenage years. She graduated from Peace College. Judy worked at Carolina Telephone in Rocky Mount for several years and also worked for H.J. Heinz in Baltimore, Maryland.
She married Milton on May 24, 1952. Four months later he would be called to service in Korea where he spent thirteen months. Later Milton's job as an Engineer for Shell Oil Company led them to live in Baltimore, Raleigh and Charlotte. They have lived in Wilson the past thirty-one years since retirement.
Julia enjoyed sewing, making floral arrangements, playing the piano, crocheting and cooking. Julia was a wonderful wife and mother and will be dearly missed.

Surviving Julia is her husband of 61 years, Milton J. Moore; by her daughters, Susan Currie and husband, George, of Wilson and Kathy Perkins of Charlotte; grandson, Colton Sterling Perkins; nephew, Steve Mullen and family of Winston-Salem; niece, Janet Mullen Stafford and family of Denver, Colorado; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Lee Lancaster of Sharpsburg.
