Joyce Horne

Joyce Alford Horne, 87, of Wilson, died Saturday, July 18, 2020, in the home of her daughter in Raleigh.

Funeral, Wednesday, 11:00 AM, Wilson Memorial Service.

Surviving are her daughters, Susan Steltenpohl (Bill) of Raleigh and Lynda Dilda (Allen) of Rocky Mount; grandsons, Jeremy Wilson, Adam Steltenpohl and Nick Steltenpohl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Horne, Jr. in 1986; parents, John Thomas Alford and Claudia Murray Alford; brothers, Royster Alford, Norman Alford and Travis Alford.

Mrs. Horne did secretarial work for many years at Thurston Motor Lines. Later in life she was the hostess at Hardee's, serving customers coffee with friendly conversation and a smile. She was a faithful caregiver throughout her life to her parents, in-laws, husband, children, grandchildren, and pets. She had a very gentle soul and loving heart. What she enjoyed most in her life was time spent with her family.
