Joyce Keel Edmundson, 79, of Wilson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 16, 2024. She was a precious, loving wife, Mama, Nanny, sister and friend.
Joyce was born in Franklin County, North Carolina on August 3, 1944 to Leroy and Viola Cooke Keel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Viola Keel; her brothers, Charles Alton Keel and Leon “Bip” Keel; and precious great-grandson Pierce Levi Skinner.
Joyce is survived by her husband of nearly 20 years, Donald Keith Edmundson; her daughters, Charlotte O’Neal (Daniel) and Julie Staton (Mike); her grandchildren, Carlton Skinner (Morgan), Courtney Casey (Steven), Garrett Staton and Josie Batten; her great-grandchildren; Bentley Casey and Bearett Skinner; her sisters, Melba Rogers, Edna Lamm (Millard) and Elva Ruth Norris; sisters-in-law; Mary Keel and Maude Ellen Dawson, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends, too numerous to name, but dearly loved by Joyce.
A visitation will be held at Maccripine FWB Church, 5815 NC-111, Macclesfield, North Carolina, on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at the church.
Even during this time, Joyce would remind us of 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NLT), “And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So, encourage each other with these words.”
