Johnny Raper

 Johnny Milton Raper, 82, of Elm City, died Saturday, September 14, 2024.

A graveside service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Maplewood Cemetery followed by visitation.

Johnny was an incredible salesman who managed a G.S Tucker Furniture store and later a White's Tire Service location. He was good with his hands and could figure out how most small engines worked. He always had three or four lawn mowers and most of the time only one worked. He had pulled what he needed from the others to keep one working. He did enjoy taking care of his lawn. He was an avid golfer and played as much as he could. He enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his grandsons. 

He is survived by his wife Ruth Davis Raper; daughter, Pam Barrett (Charles IV) of Wilson; son, Tim B. Raper (Dr. Julie Messer) of Raleigh; grandsons, Graham Raper and Garrett Raper; brother, Jerry Raper (Debbie) of Wilson; sister-in-law, Judy Raper of Stancils Chapel.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Maybelle Narron Raper; sisters, Gail Johnson (Ray) and Jeanette Boykin (Clovis); brothers, Bobby Raper and Teeny Boy Raper (Carolyn).

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Dementia Alliance of NC, 9131 Anson Way, Ste 206, Raleigh, NC 27615.
