John Gauss

WILSON - John Christopher Gauss, 48, died Monday, August 13, 2012.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 202 N. Goldsboro St, Wilson, Wednesday at 2 PM. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. A private burial will take place prior to the service.

Christopher's insurance career spanned 26 years gaining industry recognition in both management and personal production. As a manager he was consistently recognized by The General Agents Mangers Association (GAMA) as a national leader. In personal production he was a member of The Million Dollar Round Table qualifying for Top of The Table twice. An avid outdoorsman Christopher had a passion for bird hunting, fishing and anytime spent on the water.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Gurley Gauss; daughter, Johanna Bartels Gauss; son, John Christopher Gauss, Jr.; parents, Anna Jane and Bud Ruffin and Ed and Betty Jean Gauss; brothers, Tav Gauss and wife, Kim, and Harry Gauss and wife, Liza, all of Wilson; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Jody Gurley of Roanoke, VA.; nieces and nephews, Megan Hill, R.D. Gauss, Anna Marshall Wilson, Mary Riddick Stallworth, Anna Wooten Gauss, Ben, Taylor, John and Gray Gurley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation, 4530 Park Rd, Ste 230, Charlotte NC 28209 or to Woodberry Forest School, 402 Woodberry Station, Woodberry Forest VA 22989.
