Jody Bissette

Jody Hammond Bissette of Wilson passed away peacefully Thursday, July 20th 2023 surrounded by her family.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday July 27th 2023 in The Common Room at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 202 Goldsboro Street E, Wilson, NC and other times at the home of Jesse Bissette. 

Jody was born and raised in Wilson, NC, the second child of the late Dr. George R. and Eleanor M. Hammond. She graduated from East Carolina with a degree in elementary education, and spent several decades working throughout the Wilson County school system. Jody is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jesse Bissette of Wilson, NC; her son, Adrian Bissette and wife, Hillary of Atlanta, GA; her daughter, Ashley Wilson and husband Josh Wilson of Wilson, NC; her sisters, Carol Reaves and husband, Lacy of Raleigh, NC, Robin Hammond and husband, Bill Sandifer of Raleigh, NC, and Allyson Downs and husband, Sam of Emerald Isle, NC, and her grandsons, Easton and Greyson Wilson, both of Wilson, NC. 

A special note of appreciation is expressed to Gentiva Hospice, the nurses and staff of Wilson Pines, and an extra note of thanks to Monique Lee, RN for the care and compassion she provided.
