ELM CITY - JoAnn Bissett Bowen, 79, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 to be with her Lord and Saviour.
Funeral, Sunday, 2 PM, Cedar Grove Cemetery, Elm City, conducted by Rev. Mark Woolard and Rev. Frankie Elliott with special music by her niece, Mary Louise Narron. The visitation will follow at the Elm City United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Tyrus Raymond and Thelma Ferguson Bissett and her brother, Ray Bissett.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Stepps and husband, Ray, of Elm City; sons, Bill Short and Bucky Bowen of Elm City; grandchildren, Jozy Coffey (John), Will Short, Dylan Stepps, Sarah Short, Leighann Bowen and Turner Bowen; great-grandson, Owen Coffey; sister, Jennie Lou Lancaster of Raleigh; brother, Mickey Bissett and wife, Doris, of Wilson; several nieces and nephews and special companion, her dog, Izzy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, 1108 Windemere Dr NW, Wilson, NC 27896.
