Jimmy Gamble

November 27, 1941 — June 12, 2019

James Oliver Gamble, Jr., 77, of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, surrounded by his family.

Funeral, Saturday, June 15, 2019, 3:00 PM at Fremont United Methodist Church, with a visitation meal to follow in the fellowship hall.

Jimmy was born November 27, 1941 to the late James “JO” Gamble and Jennie Bostic Gamble in Greeleyville, SC.  While attending NCSU, he met and soon married Emily Duncan.  Jimmy was blessed to be able to combine his two passions – farming and business - after moving to Fremont and working as a fertilizer salesman.  He later purchased and operated Wayne Crop Service.

His love for community service in Fremont was demonstrated by his involvement in Fremont Rotary Club (of which he was president), Fremont UMC, and chairman the board of BB&T in Fremont.

Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and is survived by his wife Emily; son, James Gamble III (Renee); three grandsons, James “Jay” Gamble IV (fiancée Alexandria Ownbey), Andrew Gamble and Bryan Gamble; and many special nephews, nieces, extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to Fremont United Methodist Church, PO Box 147, Fremont, NC  27830, or to B2BU Ministries, PO Box 2016, Fremont NC 27830.
