Janice Taylor Barnes, 78, of Lucama, died Friday, December 11, 2020 after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral, Wednesday, Dec. 16, 11:00AM, Evergreen Memorial Park. Friends may visit at 3115 Westshire Dr N, Wilson.
She graduated from Lucama High School and went on to acquire a Master's degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University. She provided 57 years of teaching, and substitute teaching after retirement, in Wilson and Johnston Counties.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents, James Luther Taylor and Callie Smith Taylor; sisters, Nona Boswell and Shirley Godwin.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Scott Barnes; daughter, Katrina Barnes (Rodney Davis) of Wilson, son, Sean Barnes of Lucama; grandson, Channing Barnes; granddaughter, Gabrielle Barnes; sisters, Margie Turner and Doris Lucas of Lucama; brother, Jimmy Taylor (Gale) of Lucama; several nieces and nephews, and special pet, Cabana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Little Rock OFWB Church, PO Box 340, Lucama, NC 27851 or to a charity of one’s choice.
