Jane Royal Owen

Jane Royal Owen, 88, of Durham, formerly of Wilson, died Monday, July 18, 2022.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Owen Family Cemetery, Jarratt, VA.

Mrs. Owen is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth O. Smith of Wilson, Lynda J. Owen of Raleigh, and Kathryn O. Fluta (Mark) of Wilmington; grandchildren, Michael Owen Smith (Becca) of Wilmington and Michelle S. Kopenitz (Jason) of Chapel Hill; great-grandchildren, Max Kopenitz and Owen Smith; five granddogs and one great-granddog.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard L. Owen, in May 2012 and son-in-law, Charles “Mike” Smith in November, 1997.
