J. Kimbro

November 20, 1942 — January 22, 2014

WILSON - J. Kirk Kimbro, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Wilson Medical Center.

Born in Durham, NC, to W.R. and Minnie Aycock Kimbro, he left Durham after high school to attend and graduate from Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) in Wilson, NC.

Kirk spent his entire working career in the tobacco industry, and traveled all over the world. In his spare time and upon retirement, he enjoyed golf, fishing, painting, gardening, cooking, Carolina basketball, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo Buffaloe Kimbro of Wilson (formerly of Garner); daughter Amy Kimbro Bodle and her husband, Kevin Richard Bodle, of Raleigh; pride and joy - his grandson - Connor Kirk Bodle; brother, Ronnie Kimbro and his wife, Jane, of Durham; an uncle, Ralph Aycock of Asheville; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Wilson.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11.00am at First United Methodist Church, Green and Tarboro Streets, Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buffaloe-Kimbro Scholarship at Barton College, PO Box 5000, Wilson, NC 27893, the Buffaloe-Kimbro Scholarship at First Methodist Church, PO Box 1423, Wilson, NC 27894 or a charity of your choosing.

"Pop" was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
