Huldah Hart

Huldah Pridgen Hart, 105, of Elm City, died Monday, January 13, 2025.

Funeral, Thursday, 2:00 PM, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church. The visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Moore (Fred) with whom she lived; daughters-in-law, Sue Hart of Louisburg and Patsy Hart of Elm City; 9 grandchildren with 1 preceded in death; 28 great-grandchildren with 1 preceded in death, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hart was preceded in death by her husband William W. Hart; daughter, Barbara Pridgen; sons, William “Billy” Hart and James “Jimmy” Hart; sisters, Dora Joyner and Patsy Finch; brothers, Fred, William Walter “Dub”, Richard, and Robin Pridgen. She was the daughter of Lillie Duke Pridgen and Thomas Walter Pridgen.

Huldah’s greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, followed by the love she had for her large family. She had a zeal for life. She loved art, singing, dancing, swimming, walking, aerobics, sewing, cooking, reading, birds, animals, all things in nature, and spending time with her loved ones. She took up painting at the age of 70 and many friends and family have their walls adorned with her beautiful art. She was fun and her laugh was big. Despite life’s struggles, she was forever grateful, humble, and full of joy. She was a giver, a nurturer, a story-teller. She was down to earth and she would tell it like it is, which created great humor and much laughter. She was a cheerful and engaging person to be around and she set a wonderful example of faithfulness. It was her personal relationship and deep love for Christ that carried her many trials. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Zion United Methodist Church or to Hope Pantry at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 5326 London Church Rd, Elm City, NC 27822.
