WILSON - Henry C. Barnes, Jr., 90, died Sunday, April 8, 2012.
Funeral, Wednesday, 11 AM, Evergreen Memorial Park.
Mr. Barnes and his late brothers, Roy and Eddie Barnes, established Barnes Truck Lines in 1939. He retired from the business in 1974, but never really stopped working.
He was a son of the late Henry and Vann Hyde Barnes of Nashville and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Marie Barnes, in addition to a sister, Gurdie Stancil and brothers, Neddie, Roy and Eddie Barnes.
Surviving is his wife of 73 years, Inez Joyner Barnes; son, Louis Barnes (Ruby) of Rocky Mount; granddaughter, Susan B. Turner (LeRoy); grandsons, Keith Barnes (Susan), Scott Barnes (Renee), Patrick Barnes (Tammy), Jamie Speight and Brian Bartholomew (Maria); great-grandchildren, Corey Ellison, Paxton and Kenan Barnes, Gabe and Reagan Barnes, Anna and Patrick Barnes, Jr., Lina and Braxton Bartholomew and Logan, Landon, Ava and Jaydon Speight; brother, Alton Barnes (Katie) of Wilson.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Tuesday, 7 - 8:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Milbournie FWB Church, 5854 Countryside Rd, Wilson, NC 27896.
A note of appreciation for loving home care is extended to Kathy Boyette, Kim Adcox and Debbie Cox which permitted him to remain in his own home.
