WILSON - Glenn Broome, 83, died Friday, September 11, 2009. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Hissem. After the war he went on to graduate from Catawba College in his home county of Rowan. His vocation brought him to Wilson where he worked with Suburban Propane Gas Company for 38 years. He was a sports enthusiast with a great passion for golf. Funeral, Monday, 2 PM, Evansdale United Methodist Church followed by a time of visiting and sharing. The church meant much to him for he served as a Sunday school teacher, Chairman of the Administrative Board, President of the Methodist Men and head usher. Surviving is his wife, Louise Whitley Broome: sons, Ted Broome (Sandy) of Richmond, VA, Thomas "Tab" Broom (Beth) of Laurinburg, Tim Broome (Jan) of Elizabethtown, TN: grandchildren, Hunter, Joshua, Brooks, Andi and Drew Broome: brother, Kenneth Pless of Annandale, VA. Memorials are suggested to the Evansdale United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4334 Evansdale Rd, Wilson NC 27893.
