WILSON - Gilda May Daul Volkman, 91, died August 3, 2015, peacefully in her home.
A service to celebrate her life will be Monday, August 10, 2:00 PM, at First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Dr. Thomas J. Watkins will officiate. Visitation will be immediately after the service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Volkman; parents, Charles and May Hebee Daul and brother, George C. Daul.
Gilda was born in Gretna, Louisiana on September 4, 1923. She graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama and Huffstetler Business College. She worked as a church secretary for more than 35 years. Her infectious laugh, love of life and pride of the accomplishments of her family were quickly obvious to anyone who met her. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in several capacities including the church office, Women of the Church and the Chancel Choir for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Gilda Tucker and husband, Clayton; grandsons, Jeremy Tucker and Ryan Tucker and wife, Carol; great-grandchildren, Charles R. Tucker, Jr. and Kady Elizabeth Tucker and nephews, George C. Daul and Charles R. Daul.
Her family would like to thank her special caregivers who tended to her with much love and devotion as her health declined within the last year; Linda Davis, Debbie Simpson, Patti Whitehead, Beverly Gray and Katrina Edmundson. They were surely her earthly angels!
