Geraldine Smith

WILSON - Geraldine "Buzz" Bezant Smith, 85, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Buzz was born August 22, 1923, in Hereford, England to the late Authur Percival and Anna Morris Bezant. She attended Hereford grade schools, graduated from Hereford Teachers College and taught in London. During World War II, she met Army Air Corp Captain Walton Wright Smith of Wilson and they were married on August 2, 1945. After the war, they returned to his hometown of Wilson to raise their family. Buzz loved working in her garden, reading, participating in the Discussion Club and spending time with family and friends at the coast. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walton, in 2003, and her sister, Marjorie Rodgers of England. Funeral, Friday, 11:30 AM, Maplewood Cemetery, Section 1. Surviving are daughters, Pamela Orcutt (David) of Wilson and Janet Darnell (Steve) of Raleigh: son, Walton Wright Smith, Jr. (Gail) of Wilmington: grandchildren, Mary Anna Edmonds, Walt and Will Smith of Wilmington: Porter Darnell (Jill) of Raleigh and Lindsay Darnell McAulay (Mac) of New York City.
