Garland Wells

WILSON - Garland Thomas Wells, 74, of Wilson, died Sunday, May 25, 2014.

Funeral, Wednesday, 11:00 AM, Wilson Memorial Service, followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.

Garland was born on October 7, 1939, a mere 15 days after his beloved wife. He never let her forget that he married an older woman. His love and provisions for his friends and family was never ending as he worked to create value in relationships.

From stocking shelves at M&W Grocery at age nine to serving the State of North Carolina as a Department of Agriculture Compliance Officer, he provided for his family and enjoyed creating long term friendships. He also served as a special deputy with the Wilson County Sheriff for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Jo Anna Skinner Wells; daughters, Elizabeth Page (Albert) of Cary and Jamie Slagel (Doug) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan Page, Rebecca Slagel, Joe Slagel, Thomas Page, Andrew Page and Anna Grace Page; sister, Poppy Louise Nichols of Sims: brothers, Kermit "Pete" Wells (Joyce) of Wilson and Ray Wells (Linda) of Sims.
