Minnie Frances Barrett Holloman passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 7, surrounded by family and friends.
The visitation will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Wednesday, 6:00-7:30 PM.
Frances was born on December 30, 1935 in Durham, North Carolina to the late William Stephen Ellis and Maggie Mae Lee. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Ross Ellis and sister, Doris Mae Ellis.
She attended school in the Braggtown Community and continued her studies at Watts School of Nursing, receiving a LPN license. She worked in the nursing field for over 30+ years starting at the Wilson Clinic and then taking a job as an industrial nurse at Blue Bell/Wrangler. A position she held for over 25 years. She also worked for Black and Decker in Tarboro, NC and John Morrell.
Frances always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. On sunny days you could find her sunning on the deck. She enjoyed playing bridge and hosting card nights with the girls. She was a horse enthusiast and traveled many places to watch and show horses. She and Roger were especially proud of “Reflector” their award winning Morgan Horse. Frances was a good cook and will be remembered for her famous carrot cakes, potato salad and pimento cheese.
She leaves to cherish her husband of 45 years, Rufus Roger Holloman; three daughters, Pamela Barrett Bachara, Anna Barrett Appert (Robert), Margaret Barrett Ward (Randy) all of Wilson, NC; one son, C. Drexel Barrett III (Linda) of Apex, NC; three step children, Mike Holloman, David Holloman (Angie) all of Elm City, NC and Cindy Tucker (Tony) of Newport, NC; five grandchildren, Erica S. Swartzfager, Jessica W. Parris, Madison M. Ward, John Drexel Barrett (Ashton) and Lauren E. Barrett; four step-grandchildren, Levi Holloman, Trevor Holloman, Matthew Northcutt, and Eric Northcutt (Whitney); two great granchildren, Savannah Swartzfager and Ian Northcutt; nephews, Clarence Ellis and Stevie Ellis; nieces, Vickie Revill and Judy Matthews; sisters-in-law, Edna Taylor and Ann Braswell both of Wilson, NC; many other extended family and friends and her beloved dog, Harmony.
The family would like to express a special and heartfelt thank you to Savannah, Lynn, Ashley, Lori, and sweet Miss B, and all the staff at Community Home Care and Hospice of Wilson as well as Wilma Askew and Vonda Goff for the extra care each day.
