Frances Carlton

WILSON - Frances Lancaster Carlton, 87, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

Funeral, Wednesday, December 28, 11:00 am, First Baptist Church. The visitation will be Tuesday, 6:30 - 8:30 at Wilson Memorial Service.

Frances is survived by sons, Lewis Hilton Carlton and friend, Tina Crawford, of Clayton and Kelly Robert Carlton and wife, Carol, of Wilson; grandchildren, Eric Carlton of Wilson and Emily Carlton of Baltimore, MD.; several nieces and nephews, including, Ann Roberson of Raleigh, Martha Barnes and Mary Ann Lancaster of Temperance Hall and John, Ray and Watson Lancaster all of Temperance Hall and Wayne Roberson, of Littleton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Carlton in May 2016; parents, Robert Warren and Lena Cherry Lancaster; brothers, Warren and Cherry Lancaster; sister, Virginia L. Robertson and nephew, R.W. Lancaster.

Frances was a long time member of First Baptist Church where she served in several offices and positions including Deacon. She was very active in the Thomas Hadley Chapter of the DAR. She served in several offices with the local Chapter, District and State level including State Regent and State Chaplain. Frances also was a longtime member of the Wilson Woman's Club where she served in several positions. She is noted as being the longest acting member of the Wilson Woman's Club.
